Year 6 explores the power of words with Laura Mucha
Published: Tue 6 October 2026To mark National Poetry Day, our Year 6 students took part in an inspiring creative writing workshop with award-winning poet and writer Laura Mucha, alongside students from our family of schools, Highgate Hill and Plashet.
The workshop explored the theme of ‘overwhelm’, giving students the opportunity to share their ideas about the things that can make them feel stressed or overwhelmed, as well as the activities, people and experiences that help them to relax and feel more at ease.
Through creative writing and discussion, students explored how poetry can provide a powerful way to express thoughts and feelings. The session encouraged them to reflect on their own experiences, share their ideas and discover how words can help us make sense of the emotions we experience.
